Composición
Buenos días... He aquí una muestra de la evolución de Salsa:
(Orquesta D'Soul, San Francisco, CA)
COMPOSICIÓN 1
Instructions:
1. Please write a one-page composition (250 words) on the topic given below. The paper should be typed, double-spaced and handed in class on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 10th. Please use 1.25-inch margins, and no large fonts (i.e., 12pt Courier).
2. The compositions will be returned to you with corrections (you will be provided with an answer key to the corrections at that time). You will re-write your composition and hand it back in class on MONDAY, OCTOBER 27th. The average of the two versions will be your final grade for the composition, so pay attention to your first draft!!
Checklist (please keep it for future compositions)
a. Is your name on the composition?
b. Does your composition have a title? (¡OJO!: titles in Spanish only take capital letters in the first word and proper nouns)
c. Does the gender (and number) agree between your nouns and articles, your nouns and adjectives?
d. Do your verbs agree with their subjects? What about the tenses?
e. Can you identify the subject of each sentence?
f. Where are your pronouns (reflexive, indirect object)? Are you sure you need them?
g. What connectors your sentences have when there is more than one? (A conjunction? A relative pronoun like ‘que’?)
h. Are you absolutely SURE the words you are using exist in Spanish? (i.e., if you are not sure about a word, LOOK IT UP!)
i. Have you checked all your accents?
j. Does your composition present an idea that is developed throughout?
(OJO Point reduction for every day it is late!)
